How to convert energy in watt-hour (Wh) to electric power in kilowatts (kW).
You can calculate kilowatt from watt-hour and hours, but you can't convert watt-hour to kilowatt units, since watt-hour and kilowatt units represent different quantities.
The power P in kilowatts (kW) is equal to the energy E in watt-hour (Wh), divided by 1000 times the time period t in hours (h):
P(kW) = E(Wh) / (1000 × t(h))
So
kilowatts = watt-hour / (1000 × hours)
or
kW = Wh / (1000 × h)
What is the power consumption in kilowatts when the energy consumption is 15000 watt-hour for time duration of 3 hours?
P = 15000 Wh / (1000 × 3 h) = 5 kW
